The Queen of Tarts

Today we were learning the rhyme the Queen of Tarts.

While we were eating our lunch we watched this really old cartoon all about the rhyme.

It's 80 years old!

Can you see what's the same and what's different between these style of cartoons and cartoons today?

Megalithic Art

We created some megalithic inspired art today.

Megalithic art uses simple lines with big shapes (like a spiral for the sun and waves for water).

Check out our clay tablets here!

Class Voting System

We used the class voting system today to practise learning our tricky words!

Everyone gets a special controller with buttons on it.

When a question appears on the board you have to press a button to give your answer.

When everyone has voted, you get to see how many people got it right.

It was a really fun way to practise our tricky words.

We LOVE learning with ICT!

Mata as Gaeilge!

Ag foghlaim faoin scéal Cúchulainn!

Dé Chéadaoin, bhí an-spórt againn ar scoil.

Rinne James agus Paschal dráma dúinn den scéal Setanta agus conas a bhfuair sé an ainm Cúchulainn.

Bhí sé an-ghreannmhar agus bhaineamar an-sult as!

Visit to the Natural History Museum

We will be visiting the Natural History Museum next week as part of Féile na Gaeilge.

If you want to go back over some of the things we're going to see, you can check out these Prezis!

The story of Cúchulainn

Next Wednesday, we will be watching a play about Setanta (who became Cúchulainn).

We watched some cartoons about his life so that we would have a good background understanding of the story.

If you've forgotten any of the details (or would like to share the story with your brothers and sisters!), you can see them here.

The Frog Prince

Today we listened to the story of the Frog Prince.

We practised our predicting, connecting, self-questioning and creating images.

You can listen to it again here.

Tuesday 4 March 2014

Éadaí

Le haghaidh cúpla seachtaine anois, bhímid ag foghlaim faoi Éadaí.

An féidir leat na focail sinne a chuimhniú?

We've been learning about clothes for the past few weeks.

Can you remember these words?

What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

We were talking about lots of different types of jobs today.

We read a story about it...

...answered some questions in a quiz...

...and listened to a song about different jobs!

We learned lots and had loads of fun!

Tricky Word Songs - saw and put

Today we learned two tricky words - saw and put.

We're not sure why put is a tricky word because we found it really easy!
