A Busy Busy Day!

Today was a very busy day in senior infants!

Check out some of the things we got up to!

We also had art today!

We made the most beautiful collages of owls (as inspired by the book Owl Babies).

They are really fantastic and are going to look great up on our art display board!

The Queen of Tarts

Today we were learning the rhyme the Queen of Tarts.

While we were eating our lunch we watched this really old cartoon all about the rhyme.

It's 80 years old!

Can you see what's the same and what's different between these style of cartoons and cartoons today?

Megalithic Art

We created some megalithic inspired art today.

Megalithic art uses simple lines with big shapes (like a spiral for the sun and waves for water).

Check out our clay tablets here!

Ag foghlaim faoin scéal Cúchulainn!

Dé Chéadaoin, bhí an-spórt againn ar scoil.

Rinne James agus Paschal dráma dúinn den scéal Setanta agus conas a bhfuair sé an ainm Cúchulainn.

Bhí sé an-ghreannmhar agus bhaineamar an-sult as!

The story of Cúchulainn

Next Wednesday, we will be watching a play about Setanta (who became Cúchulainn).

We watched some cartoons about his life so that we would have a good background understanding of the story.

If you've forgotten any of the details (or would like to share the story with your brothers and sisters!), you can see them here.

The Frog Prince

Today we listened to the story of the Frog Prince.

We practised our predicting, connecting, self-questioning and creating images.

You can listen to it again here.

We are Growing and Changing!

In history today, we were learning all about growing up and how we change.

We read a book all about it and we had a look at photos of us when we were younger.

It was really interesting to see how people had grown and changed since they were babies.

We even saw one photo of someone when they were still inside their mother's tummy! This is called an ultrasound.

It was a fun history lesson!

Jack and the Beanstalk Sequencing

We had great fun sequencing the picture cards of the story Jack and the Beanstalk.

We've really improved our group work skills and this showed in the lesson today.

Keep up the great work everyone!

Jack and the Beanstalk

We've been learning all about the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.

We've listened to the story, sequenced the events in the tale and also painted pictures inspired by the story!

Check out a video of the story here...

Read the story and play lots of great activities here...

And look at our fabulous paintings here!

We watched a video today of the Little Red Hen and we looked for differences between this version and the first story we read.

The Little Red Hen

In history today, we were doing the story of the Little Red Hen. We listened to the story and then sequenced it using picture cards. Sometimes working together with the whole table together can be tricky but we are improving all the time when it comes to group work!

You can watch the story again here!

The Three Little Pigs

We listened to 'The Three Little Pigs' today and we created images while Cecelia read the story! Here's the story we read!

Can you remember any of the images you created inside your head?

In my mind I see....

In my mind I hear....

In my mind I feel....

When you're finished creating your own images, you can read along with the story here.

And watch it here!

Here's what happened afterwards!

And here's a different version of the story....

Dressing for the weather!

We were learning all about choosing the right kinds of clothes to suit the weather. Imagine if the three bears from the Goldilocks story were going for a walk on a sunny day... or on a rainy day..... or on a cold snowy day!  What would they wear?

Here are some great games that let you learn all about just that!

Dress Sid for the weather!

and

Wacky weather on CBeebies!

Have fun!
