Buddy Reading - Reading for Fluency
We had another session of buddy reading today.
Everyone really enjoys it when Orlagh's class come in because they are such kind and helpful teachers.
Hopefully some of them will think about being teachers when they grow up - they'd be really excellent!

Two is tricky because it sounds just like 'to'.
It's tough to remember that the number two has a silent w!

Buddy Reading Begins!
We finished our four weeks of buddy handwriting with Orlagh's fifth class so today we began doing some buddy reading.
We all switched partners so that we could get to know some new people.
Everyone worked really well together and we did some great reading!
It was great!

Revise your Phonic Sounds!
During Parent Teacher Meetings, some parents asked for some assistance with helping their children say the phonic sounds correctly.
Consequently... here's a link to online flashcards for both the initial group of phonic sounds and also the phonic alternatives that we do in senior infants.
You can use the class account or (even better) create your own account. If you have a personal account, the site remembers which ones you don’t know and let’s you practise them more.

Jack and the Beanstalk

'Ir'
We've been learning the 'ir' and 'ur' sounds this week. We were watching this video at snack time but some people had to leave so Cecelia promised to put it on the blog so they could watch it at home. Enjoy!
